What's For Dinner?

So this is the blog.  It came up in a conversation really randomly yesterday as we were trying to figure out what we were going to have for dinner.  D said "We should start a blog", so I did.  I think we're both going to post... we'll see how it works out.  This is going to be a mix of a foodie blog and a family blog.  D is a serious foodie, and I'm a serious dinner procrastinator, so we tend to run into problems every day around dinner time.

As I write this, I'm trying to figure out what the hell we're going to have for dinner tonight.  Again.

There are many more important decisions that we're struggling with right now.  This is a rundown of the decisions that are hanging over our heads at the moment:

#1.  D really really REALLY hates his job.  He loves to work, but surprisingly enough, he doesn't enjoy being treated like a meaningless cog in the machine.  Go figure.  So we're trying to decide what to do about that at this point.  He wants to quit.  We have a three month cushion, so it is an option, but it makes me kind of queazy to think about.

#2. Becoming city people.  We live about a 45 minute drive away from anything that we enjoy, and it's for no good reason.  A few years ago we decided that this cute little town would be just what we wanted.  Well it's not.  We want to have access to good food, parks, farmers markets, sporting events, work, etc. without having to drive for an hour.

#3.  Kindergarden.  C starts in the fall and we're having a hard time deciding what to do.  We want to move, that's been established, but where will we send her to school?  We want her to grow up with a catholic school education, but there are lots of choices.  We've narrowed it down to a couple, but we need to make the decision quick because there are limited spots.  But we don't know where we'll be living, so can we really decide on a school?

#4. College.  It's time for me to get serious about this.  I'm getting too old and losing too many brain cells.  I need to finish and get a good job and contribute to this family financially.  I'm going to do it in spring quarter, hopefully, but that brings me to #5....

#5. Daycare/Preschool.  G needs to start preschool next year, and I need to figure out some childcare option for her if I'm going back to school.  The problem is that most preschools are only half-day two days a week.  This isn't really meshing well with scheduling classes... And childcare is EXPENSIVE!

And last but not at all least:
#6. A New Car.  It's a need, not a want.

So that's the jumping off point for this blog.  We'll let you know how it all shakes out... and that includes dinner tonight.
